AN IRON tsuba BY SUNAGAWA MASAYOSHI AND ANOTHER BY SEIUNSAI YUKIMITSU
Edo Period (19th century)
The first of oval form pierced and carved with waves, surrounded by a dragon amongst clouds carved in shishiaibori, signed Shohakudo Sunagawa Masayoshi, with a kao, 7.7cm; the second, also oval, pierced and carved with a Chinese warrior seated in a carriage, attended by a mounted retainer, a dragon swirling overhead, details inlaid and overlaid in copper, silver and two colours of gold, signed Seiunsai Yukimitsu, 7.55cm.
