AN IRON KINAI tsuba AND FOUR OTHERS
Edo Period (19th century)
The first formed from five masks, signed Echizen no ju Kinai saku, 7cm.; a heavy circular tsuba carved and inlaid with silver and gold, with two birds flying away from a blossoming plum tree, frightened off by an eagle, with the signature Nagatsune with a kao, 8.2cm.; two small tsuba densely decorated in gold and silver nunome zogan, one of eight-lobed oval form, with massed chrysanthemums 7.4cm., the other of oval shape with three dragon roundels surrounded by a shippo patterned ground, 6.3cm.; and another of rounded square shape with seven chidori flying past a pine tree beneath the moon, signed Seiryusai Hidenaga, with kao seal, 7.65cm.
