TWO IRON tsuba BY KINAI OF ECHIZEN AND ANOTHER BY EIJUKEN MOTOHARU
Edo period (17th/19th century)
An almost circular tsuba carved and pierced with two butterflies facing each other across the seppadai, signed on the reverse Echizen no ju Kinai saku, 7.75cm; an oval iron tsuba, the plate inlaid in other metals with five doves amid flowering plants, signed Eijuken Motoharu, 7.4cm.; and a large, earlier circular tsuba pierced and carved in marubori with six animals of the zodiac, signed on the reverse, Echizen no ju Kinai saku, 8.6cm.
