A SHONAI SHOAMI TSUBA, A LATE NARA TSUBA, AN ICHIJO-STYLE TSUBA AND FOUR OTHERS
Edo period (18th/19th century)
A copper Ishimeji Shonai Shoami tsuba, pierced with three arrowheads, 8.5cm.; a rounded square Nara school tsuba, the face carved with Kanzan expounding on a handscroll to Jittoku beneath the moon, Bukan Zenshi sleeping beside his tiger on the reverse, signed only with a kao, 7.2cm.; a mokko-shaped copper tsuba inlaid with floral roundels and tree form roundels, 7.25cm.; a rounded square Shoami tsuba, inlaid with five baby dragons, 7.1cm.; a small copper tsuba with a punched ground and a partly roped rim, carved and inlaid with the figure of Daruma, 6.8cm.; a mokko-shaped sentoku tsuba with punch marks and stamps of cherry blossoms and with scattered flying cranes in gold and silver nunome zogan, 8.4cm. and a very small hamidashi tsuba, the very small area outside the seppa-dai with a ho-o and clouds on a shakudo-nanako ground, 4.5cm.
