A Pair of Rome wet-drug jars
Circa 1600-1620
Of baluster form with short straight spouts and double C-scroll handles with scroll terminals, painted in blue, green, yellow and ochre, one side painted in the Patanazzi style with grotteschi, birds, winged herms and scrolls, the other side with oak leaves, reserved below the handle and spout with a label, one inscribed .S.POLIPOD., the other .S.CAP.VEN. (the second with dent and cracks partly restuck above foot, both with slight crack to neck, minor glaze flaking to rims and spouts)
