A Pair of South Italian wet-drug jars
Second half of the 17th century
With straight spouts and strap handles, painted in manganese, green, blue and yellow, each with a castle below the spout on a ground of scrolling flowering foliage reserved with a label, one inscribed for Dx Squil and the other for S.borag.Semp above a bird (one with chip to spout and foot and chips to rim, the other with glaze crazing, both with slight glaze flaking and lower part drilled)
