TWO WAKIZASHI
A wakizashi, the blade, kanmuriotoshi-zukuri, iorimune, itamehada with ji-nie, midare hamon of nioi, ubu nakago, mei: Ise no Kuni Kuwana no ju Hiromichi saku and dated Bunkyu 3 [1863], 135/8in. (34.6cm), in its red lacquer ebisaya with copper ishimeji mounts and tsuba, copper mon menuki, copper wari-kogai and shiiremono kozuka, 19th century; a heavy wakizashi blade shobuzukuri, iorimune, sakizori, jihada obscured, suguha hamon, slightly suriage nakago, mei: Soshu Kamakura no ju Kunihide and dated Kaei 3 [1850], 17½in. (44.5cm.), in its aogai saya, the upper part nashiji, the aogai with tendrils of seaweed in black lacquer, and inlaid with seashells, silvered fuchi-kashira with leaves and tendrils in kebori, similar tsuba, koiguchi, uragawara and kozuka, the latter also with ho-o birds in gilt roundels, gilt dragon menuki, 19th century (2)
