The first katana blade honzukuri, iorimune, toriizori with chugissaki, itamehada with ji-nie, gunome hamon of nioi, midarekomi boshi, the omote carved with a dragon, ubu nakago, mei: Hitachi no Kami Fujiwara Jumyo, 24½in. (62.3cm), 17th century, in its brown lacquer saya grained as wood, ivory koiguchi (damaged), shakudo nanako fuchi-kashira decorated with flowers and curtains in gilt, gilt flower menuki, mokkogata iron Hizen tsuba chiselled and gilt with a ho-o bird, 19th century; the second katana, the blade honzukuri, iorimune, toriizori with chugissaki, itamehada, ko-midare hamon, the blade is generally obscured, a broad and narrow groove both sides, heavily rusted ubu nakago with the remains of a dated Bizen signature, 231/8in. (58.7cm), 15th century, in its aogai lacquer saya with narrow black ribbing, copper fuchi-kashira with gilt flowers in low relief, a broad oval copper tsuba pierced with a Chinese man and a dragon, gilt details and rim, copper and gilt menuki of fruit and leaves, 19th century (2)
