The omote with a horimono of Taki Fudo [Fudo in a waterfall] in a panel, the ura with a rendai and gomabashi, ubu nakago, 11¼in. (28.6cm), in its black lacquer saya decorated with dragonflies in gold hiramaki-e, the upper part with cherry blossom in gold hiramaki-e, matching shibuichi ishimeji fuchi-kashira, koiguchi, uragawara, kojiri, kogai and kozuka with dragonflies in gilt and shakudo takazogan, similar kaeritsuno with a gilt futatsu-tomoe mon, large gilt menuki of dragonflies, the tsuka bound with whalebone, 19th century
