Lot Essay

Pissarro lived at Coldharbour, in Surrey, from November 1915 until July 1916 where he lodged with a Mrs. Ansell. He was made a naturalised English citizen in July and moved to Sedgehill near Shaftesbury for the rest of the summer (see A. Thorold, op. cit., p. 18).
