A pair of Meissen models of red squirrels
Circa 1745, the decoration slightly later, blue crossed swords marks
Modelled by J.J. Kändler to left and right, with iron-red fur and long bushy tails, seated on their haunches, one holding a nut, the other with a nut in its mouth, both with black collars and chains to their necks, on oval mound bases applied with flowers and foliage (one with restoration to tail and ears, tip of one ear lacking and with replacement gilt-metal chain, the other with part of chain lacking, minor chips to flowers and foliage)
