The circular top with an egg-and-dart moulded edge, centred by a circular dish-shaped porcelain panel of Napoleon in his coronation regalia, the edge with fourteen oval portrait panels of French historic personalities, each named Pauline Bonaparte; Desaix de Veygoux; Elisa Bonaparte; General Lafayette; Imperatrice Josephine; Roi de Rome; Marie Louise; Lucien Bonaparte; Pauline Borghese; Marechal Ney; Caroline Bonaparte; Joachim Murat; Reine Hortens and Marechal Lannes, on three scrolled legs, joined by a tri-form stretcher, centred with a roundel of the Empress, on hipped feet

Lot Essay

This table de milieu belongs to a group of porcelain-mounted centre tables, which are decorated with portrait panels of French historical figures. It is interesting to note that in this example each oval is titled. Another table was sold in these rooms 2 June 1995, lot 149.
