Details
1949 ROLUX BABY VB60
Chassis No. 25326
Old English white with blue interior.
Engine: 125cc, single cylinder, Ydral 2-stroke; Gearbox: three sopeed manual, no reverse; Suspension: front transverse leaf, rear coil springs. Left hand drive.
The Rolux Baby was built by New Map, principally a French motorcycle manufacturer using engines such as JAP, AMC and Zurcher. The firm prospered over 30 years from the 1920's until the 1950's building some very highly respected machines. In the late 1940's, when the motorcycle industry was concentrated on AMC and Ydral engines, New Map produced a microcar to compete in this competitive and growing sector of the motor industry.
Utlilizing a Ydral 125cc 2-stroke engine, the baby VB60 was born, a delightful four wheeled roadster emulating a full sized cabriolet.
They remained in production until the mid 1950's during which time around three hundred were produced, and of which only around ten still survive today.
The Baby on offer has been fully restored to a high standard. It retains it's original engine and has been in the same ownership of just two families since it's import into Canada in the early fifties. The condition is described as excellent thoughout and is undoubtedly one of the prettiest cars in the collection.
