1961 MESSERSCHMITT KR 200 SPORT
Chassis No: 76703
White with black interior.
Engine: Fichtel & Sachs, single cylinder 2 stroke, 191cc; Gearbox: four speed and electric reverse; Brakes: cable; Suspension: rubber torsion.
The rarest model in the Messerschmitt line-up was the Sport; built in very small numbers as an inexpensive alternative to the normal scooter, they had a rigid body with plexiglass sports windshield and therefore a non-opening canopy. The cut down sides and full length removable tonneau cover added to the racy appearence and sporty aspect.
The car is another from the collection, in outstanding condition having been restored to the highest of standards. The body was stripped to bare metal before repainting in authentic factory finish white; the exterior components were found to be in fine condition and the exterior lights were restored. The luggage rack was rechromed before fitting. All three tyres are virtually brand new and fitted with factory rims, complete with imitation spoke wheel covers which are unique for the vehicle. A further feature is the original factory authentic Tiger seat fitted from new; the black vinyl passenger seat is in equally good condition. Naturally the engine and transmission were completely rebuilt and appropriately a Sachs sport exhaust system has been fitted.
The mileage showing is just under 18,500 and we are told that Mr Weiner is only the third owner of the machine, the first owner having kept it for twenty five years; well cared for during this period of ownership, the car has always been known to the Club. Reference souces reveal that it is one of approximately 12 Sport models to have been built and the only known survivor of it's type today. It is sold with a V5 registration document pertaining to the registration number 837 CLJ.
A fabulous opportunity to acquire a unique KR200 with excellent provenance.
