A Chinese Export 'marriage' plate
painted en grisaille and gilt with an allegorical wedding ceremony below an arch inscribed 'Semper Amor Pro Te Firmissimus Atque Fidelis' between two small coats of arms surmounting the columns, the participants and onlookers including Juno, Hymen, Ceres, Prudence or Wisdom and Neptune, the rim with a Meissen-style border -- 9in. (23cm.) diam, Qianlong, (hairline crack to rim).
