AN ATTIC RED-FIGURED PALMETTE-EYE CUP

The tondo preserving parts of a warrior, including his helmet and shoulders, feet, spear, shield, and a second helmet off to the right, an inscription in added red framing the figure; each side of the exterior with a fully armed youthful warrior between elegant palmettes and large eyes, the warrior on one side moving to the right, wearing a cuirass over a chiton, greaves and a crested Corinthian helmet, holding his shield in front of him and a spear, point down, in his right hand, an inscription in added red arching over him, the similarly armed warrior on the other side moving to the left but looking back, his head overlapping the shield which he supports over his left shoulder, the spear in his right hand held horizontally across the shield, an inscription in added read arching over him
