The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist
etching with drypoint, 1640, first state (of two), a fair impression, still printing with burr to the foreground lower right, with thread margins, a small made up spot just to the right of John the Baptist's right shoulder, a thin line of old glue (?) above and running parallel with the sword, a soft crease at the lower left corner, an unobtrusive rust-spot just inside the right platemark, minor staining on the reverse
