The Riva, No. 2, from The Second Venice Set
etching with drypoint, 1880, on Japan with wirelines, watermark Crowned Coat of Arms with Posthorn, first state (of two), one of the few early proofs printed in black, (subsequent impressions were printed in brown), an atmospheric impression with carefully wiped plate-tone, particularly in the foreground, signed in pencil with the butterfly and inscribed 'imp' on the tab, trimmed just outside the platemark by the artist, the tip of the lower left sheet corner made up, generally in very good condition, framed
