The Balcony
etching, 1879-1890, on Japan with wirelines, tenth state (of eleven), with the two short curved lines on the front of the gown, a finely wiped impression, the tone in the water evoking the reflection of the doorway, signed in pencil with the butterfly and inscribed 'imp' on the tab, with thread margins or trimmed on the platemark by the artist, skilfully laid on a support, a minor crease on the tab, two tiny scuffs at the left, two glue spots on the reverse, one on the tab, the other at the lower right corner, both just showing through, otherwise generally in good condition, framed
