An Imperial Satsuma baluster vase
with short neck, painted and gilt with fan shaped panels of prunus, pine and maple trees on the banks of a meandering river, all on a ground of confronting ho-o amongst trailing flowers and leaves, the shoulder with stylised flowerheads on a trellis pattern ground -- 12½in. (31.8cm.) high, signed, 19th Century, carved wood stand. See Colour Plate 7.
