Chancery 4° (171 x 129mm). Collation: a-g8 (a1r blank, a1v title and large woodcut sphere, a2r text, g7v verses to the reader by Sentinus, g8r colophon, g8v blank). 56 leaves. 32 lines. Type: 8:91R (text), 3:91G (inscriptions), 10:65G (inscription on sphere), 91Greek. 48 woodcuts, one diagram of a sphere and 47 astrological woodcuts, woodcut white-on-black initials. Manuscript correction to caption of sphere on a1v, as in other copies, and possibly made in the printing house. (Stain at hinges, occasionally repaired, a few small wormholes.) 19th-century marbled paper boards. It explains the basics of astronomy, the 42 constellations, and the zodiac, mingling myth with science. The series of woodcuts is the first to illustrate the allegorical figures of the constellations and planets. A new diagram of a sphere has been added to this edition, and the cut for Scorpius replaced with a copy in reverse.
