OVIDIUS NASO, Publius (43 B.C.-?17 A.D.). Fasti. Edited and with commentary by Paulus Marsus. Venice: Baptista de Tortis, 24 December 1482.
Median 2° (321 x 212mm). Collation: a-s8 t-z6 & \\n \\a6 (a1r blank, a1v Marsus's dedicatory letter to Georgio Cornelio, and his life of Ovid, a3r text, k1r book 3, \\a3v Marsus's concluding letter to Cornelio, \\a5r calendar, \\a6r epigram by Robertus Ursus to Marsus, colophon within architectural woodcut, \\a6v register). 192 leaves. Text with commentary surround, 60 lines of commentary. Type: 1:114R, 2:78R, 78Greek. One- to 8-line initials alternating in red or blue, capital strokes in red, first initial with brown penwork decoration (the brown and blue often faded), initial on a2 with floral penwork extension. (Some light soiling, light staining in some upper margins [from removal of stamp?], occasional light browning, some fore-margins in quires r-t strengthened, final two leaves with small wormholes and edges slightly frayed.) Early 20th-century red morocco tooled with single gilt and blind fillets, gilt edges. Provenance: occasional contemporary marginal annotations, book numbers and foliation added in an early Italian hand.
