(Scattered light spotting, slight colour-wash offsetting from frontispiece onto title.) Original gilt- and blind-stamped decorative cloth covers and spine laid down and bound in at the end (cloth trimmed and a little marked). FIRST EDITION, SECOND ISSUE. Text: p.[1] captioned 'STAVE ONE', all the uncorrected textual points noted by Smith save that on p.21. Uniformly bound in crimson crushed morocco gilt by Morrell, the boards with gilt triple fillet borders, the spines gilt in 6 compartments divided by raised bands, titled in 2 and dated at the foot, the other compartments decorated with gilt fleurons within gilt ornaments and frames, gilt board edges and turn-ins gilt with a floral roll toll, gilt edges (offsetting from turn-ins onto free endpapers, spines slightly faded).
