An Italian white marble console table, last quarter 19th century
The rectangular inverted breakfront top carved in relief with mythical beasts, fruiting cornucopiae and foliate scrolls flanking a flaming brazier, the frieze carved with flowerhead motifs, on acanthus wrapped lion head monopodiae to the front above, a moulded plinth (the top possibly later associated)
45½in. (115.5cm.) wide, 34½in. (87.5cm.) high, 22in. (56cm.) deep

Sir Julius Wernher, 1st Bt. (1850-1912), Bath House, London, and Luton Hoo, Bedfordshire, by whom bequeathed, through his widow
Alice, Lady Wernher, subsequently Lady Ludlow (1862-1945), to their son
Sir Harold Wernher, 3rd Bt., G.C.V.O. (1893-1973), Luton Hoo, Bedfordshire, in the Marble Hall, and by descent.
