Late 19th Century
With slightly curved single-edged blade (minor pitting, tip missing) cut with three fullers along its back-edge on each side, and struck on one side with a mark containing an Arabic signature, 'Ali', and the date 1287 A.H./1870 A.D., the mark surrounded by gold-damascened foliage and flower-heads involving an inscription in Cyrillic, the hilt encased in nielloed silver decorated with foliate scrolls and flower-heads, heightened on the outer side with engraving, and original black leather-covered scabbard with nielloed silver mounts (suspension ring missing) decorated en suite with the hilt on the outside, the inner side of the locket with a nielloed inscription in Cyrillic and later stamped date, Russian silver marks
