A Continental Sabre, And A French Small-Sword
Each third quarter of the 18th Century
The first with curved single-edged blade (some pitting) double-edged at the point, each face with narrow fuller along the back-edge and a broad shallow fuller extending almost to the point and etched on each side of the forte with the inscription 'O Vincere O Morire', bronze hilt of hanger form retaining traces of gilding and cast and chased with rococo decoration in relief, the grip with integral lion-head pommel; the second with tapering blade of hollow triangular section, and chiselled and gilt iron hilt (in corroded condition, grip binding missing)
