A Spanish Cup-Hilt Rapier
Late 17th/early 18th Century
With slender blade of stiff diamond section stamped 'Francisco Ruiz En Toledo' in the single fullers at the forte, iron hilt (bent) with long quillons each swelling at the tip, knuckle-guard en suite, solid cup with large pierced guardapolvo and cut with a border of running flowers and foliage in low relief on a punched ground, original grip bound with steel wire, and compressed baluster pommel
