Signed Newton, Grantham, circa 1750
Converted from flintlock, with three-stage cannon barrels signed and engraved with acanthus foliage at the breech, engraved tangs, border engraved actions, engraved trigger-guards, swelling figured walnut butts (chipped and repaired) carved with a shell in relief behind each barrel tang, pierced side-plates, escutcheons engraved with initials and surmounted by a grotesque mask, and grotesque mask pommels (some wear throughout), London proof marks
