A 16-Bore Prussian D.B. Dreyse Patent Needle-Fire Shotgun
No. 16798, circa 1875
With browned twist sighted barrels inscribed 'Patent' in silver on the rib at the breech, white metal fore-sight and iron back-sight with a single folding leaf, action inlaid with silver lines and scrolls, the barrels pivoting to the left for loading, engraved underlever decorated with silver-inlaid scrollwork and a silver-inlaid pointer in a moorland landscape, figured walnut half-stock carved in relief with foliage behind the trigger-plate tang, chequered grip, raised cheek-piece, engraved iron mounts including trigger-guard with a silver-inlaid hare, pierced horn finger rest, iron sling swivels, and some original finish (needles missing, the barrels with minor surface rust)
