Signed D. Egg, mid-19th Century
Fitted with a fine early 18th Century swamped two-stage sighted barrel chiselled in relief on the breech section with acanthus foliage and a satyr-mask against a gilt ground (gilding worn), and with traces of gilt decoration at the muzzle, scroll engraved patent breech and tang, signed back-action lock engraved with pheasants, varnished figured walnut half-stock, engraved iron mounts, and later ramrod (iron parts with some wear and pitting, barrel with modern browning), London and Birmingham proof marks
