BROWN ESTATE
The Brown family purchased their 450 acre property in Napa's Chiles Valley in 1981, and began planting in 1985. A longtime supplier of Zinfandel to some of Napa's finest small producers, the family asked winemaker Duane Dappen to produce some estate wine beginning with the 1996 vintage. 700 cases of the 1996 and 1997 vintages have been released, and were snapped up by consumers and trade encountering the wine for the first time at ZAP tastings in 1999. Six magnums of each vintage were produced, and the five remaining are reserved for the five members of the Brown family.
