Lot Essay

Private William Aberfield, who was born in Lambeth and enlisted in the 95th Regiment in December 1813, served in France and Flanders from early 1815 until late 1818, and was present at the Battle of Waterloo in Captain J. Logan's Company. Transferring to the Scots Fusilier Guards in January 1821, he was finally discharged after 22 years with the Colours in March 1834, aged 40 years.
