A MUGHAL DAGGER WITH ROCK CRYSTAL HILT

The dagger with curved tapering ridged double-edged watered steel blade, the upper side with short flat spine terminating in two small cartouches, tip of blade bevelled and damascened with gold, traces of preparation for gilding by the hilt, the rock crystal handle carved on lower terminal with scrolling serrated leaves supporting a poppy, the upper terminal with similar poppy flowerhead on each side joined on the spine by a smaller poppy issuing a long feathery leaf, lower part of hilt broken and repaired, blade possibly associated
