A NORTH GERMAN WALNUT BUREAU

The removable moulded and crossbanded shaped top above a frieze-drawer and two short and two long drawers above a moulded edge flanked by rounded angles and arched panelled sides, on short cabriole legs, remounted, one loose mount stamped 'M LOWE', restorations to the top, possibly Dutch
39½ in. (100 cm.) wide; 33 in. (84 cm.) high; 25½ in. (64 cm.) deep

Lot Essay

A German walnut commode of closely related shape but lacking the panelled sides was sold anonymously, Sotheby's London, 13 December 1991, lot 101, while a further Dutch colonial padoukwood commode with similar cabriole legs was sold anonymously in these Rooms, 29 May 1986, lot 171.
