TURKEY, PROBABLY SECOND QUARTER 17TH CENTURY
With simple curving double-edged tapering watered steel blade, the simple faceted wooden hilt of waisted form, a thin plain silver band around the spine, the sheath of taepring faceted form decorated with niello, the central facet with two inscription cartouches, the facets above and below with fine interlaced arabesques, overlaid by panels above with plum-blossom motifs and further panels of arabesques, the lower more elaborately shaped panels similarly decorated and terminating in a spirally fluted boss, the reverse with simple overlapping panels above niello swags, stamped with a tughra, slightly rubbed
