Comprising five circular and one octagonal examples in various shades and types of nephrite, one engraved with religious invocations forming a geometric pattern, the other five with the names of the owners, one drilled, one with slight chip

Lot Essay

The inscriptions on the seals are as follows:
1. Confident in the independant King, Muhammad b. Jalal Khurasani
2. Confident in the omnipotent King, the servant [of God] Bastam 'Ali b. Khabir
3. Confident in the King of both worlds, the servant [of God], Yar Ahmad b. Adam b. Husayn, 888.
The owner may well have been a Turkman; there is one earlier Yar Ahmad the Turkman who came to meet Shah Rukh from Burda' and Ganja in the year 823/1420-21.
4. Confident in the independant King, Abu'l-Ma'ali b.'Ali Ashgar al-Husayni.
5. The one who is ready at the service of the King, Qasim b. Husayn Nasrullah.
6. A repetition of "I put my trust in God" in both positive and negative.
