An extremely fine 1/8th scale museum display quality model twin cylinder compound vertical reversing condensing marine engine
built by R.C.Stephenson between 1950 and 1960 using castings supplied by Stuart Turner Ltd from his own patterns with blacked steel clad cylinders 1¾in. and 3in. bores x 2in. stroke, cylinder head pressure relief valves, H.P. piston and L.P. slide valves with tail shaft guides, main stop and simpling valves, valve chest and cylinder drain pipes and cocks, handwheel, worm and quadrant operated double bar type Stephenson's link reverse with pierced eccentrics, studded stuffing boxes, rear frame incorporated slipper type crosshead guides, counterbalanced crankshaft with three main bearings, shaft coupling and outboard thrust bearing. Further details include frame incorporated tubed condenser, L.P. crosshead driven air, feed and bilge pumps, finely formed pipework with bolted flanged joints, H.P. and L.P. valve chest pressure gauges and condenser vacuum gauge, oil boxes and pipes to piston rods and crossheads, main bearing oil pots and much other fine detailing, the whole finished in grey, black and polished brightwork and mounted on a chequer plate floor and wooden display base -- 15½ x 20in.
