The case with parcel-ebonised hood with later stepped mahogany top and later pilasters, glazed side panels, the rectangular trunk door with lenticle glass, on shortened plinth with later base, the case later inlaid with seaweed marquetry, the 12in. brass dial with cherub and coronet spandrels to a brass chapter ring signed Penton London, the matted centre with ringed winding holes and conforming border to the date aperture, subsidiary seconds ring and cut steel hands, the four pillar with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike -- 80½in. (205cm.) high
