With browned two-stage twist barrel with silver fore-sight, octagonal breech section changing to sixteen-sided and signed in full on the top flat, case-hardened patent breech engraved 'Smith's Patent' within a platinum-inlaid rectangle and with platinum plug, case-hardened scroll engraved tang, signed case-hardened rounded scroll engraved lock, finely figured walnut half-stock (slight bruising), chequered grip, scroll engraved blued iron mounts, silver escutcheon and fore-end cap, original brass-mounted ramrod, and some original finish: in original lined and fitted oak case with accessories including Hawksley leather-covered powder-flask, the lid (scratched) with trade label for circa 1830-45 and flush-fitting carrying handle with circular escutcheon, London proof marks
