A Fine Cased Pair Of 40-Bore Flintlock Box-Lock Pocket Pistols

With turn-off barrels each with a band of engraved ornament at the rear, one barrel numbered '1', signed finely engraved actions decorated with a martial trophy on each side, engraved blued thumbpiece safety-catches also locking the steels, blued steel-springs, finely figured flat-sided walnut butts with bevelled edges, blued folding triggers, and some original finish (each pistol with some minor rust spotting): in original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories, the lid with trade label for circa 1801-15, the exterior with large circular escutcheon probably replacing a flush-fitting handle
