A Fine Cased Pair Of 38-Bore Flintlock Duelling Pistols

With scratch rifled browned twist octagonal sighted barrels (some light pitting and loss of finish), case-hardened recessed patent breeches each with platinum line, and platinum-lined maker's stamp and touch-hole, engraved case-hardened tangs each incorporating the back-sight, signed engraved case-hardened detented locks each with safety-catch, roller, and rainproof pan, the steels each engraved 'Joseph Manton Patent', and numbered respectively '8028' and '8029', figured walnut half-stocks (one with minor bruising), chequered butts, engraved blued iron mounts including serial numbered trigger-guards, silver escutcheons, blued trigger-plates each with pineapple finial, horn fore-end caps, original horn-tipped ramrods, and much original finish: in original lined and fitted serial numbered mahogany case with accessories including four-way flask covered in red leather (for a pair of pocket pistols), the lid with trade label for 1819-20, flush-fitting carrying handle, and circular escutcheon, the barrels forged by Charles Lancaster
