Vase-form on a circular foot, the body repoussé and chased with grapevine, scrolls, rocaille and fruit festoons, the domed cover similarly chased and surmounted by a putto finial, the two leaf and grape-clad double scroll handles surmounted by goat's heads, each side of body engraved with a Baron's armorials, marked under base and on cover bezel

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Arundell with Conquest in pretence for Henry, 8th Baron Arundell of Wardour (1740-1808) and his wife Maria Christiana, only daughter and heiress of Benedict Conquest of Irnham, Lincolnshire. They married May 31, 1763.
