Lot Essay

Modelled by Jean-Baptiste de Fernex in 1754, La Batteuse de Beurre is a reduction of a marble sculpture of this subject modeled by Gabriel-Christophe Allegrain for Mme. de Pompadour's dairy at the chateau de Crécy the previous year.
