Lot Essay

Edmund Burke, the Irish statesman and philosopher was born in Dublin in 1729. He was one of the foremost political thinkers of England. He died in 1797 and is buried in the little church of Beaconsfield.

David Garrick was born in Hereford in 1717 and became an actor, manager and dramatist. He was at home in tragedy, comedy or farce. He died in 1779 and is buried in Westminster Abbey.
