24 February 1789:"Marched this morning to Old Dehli abt. 13 Miles SW of the Fort built by Shah Jehan", to visit the Old Purana Qila Fort built for Afghan ruler Sher Shah Sur, after securing the throne in Delhi in 1540.
Another excursion in the outskirts of Delhi on 1 March 1789 led them to the 5th. town of Delhi, Kotla Firuz Shah built by Firuz Shah Tughluq (1351-88) on the banks of the Jumna (2)
