The hongmu brushpot of cylindrical form with plugged base, the exterior carved with knobs and knots simulating bark, the wood of a warm and dark reddish-brown colour; the root wood brushpot of similar shape with plugged base, the exterior with similar carving and a pale, greyish-brown patina, minor nicks and wear to exterior
