Maker's mark Da Xing, 19th century
Repoussé on the body with a continuous scene of dignitaries and attendants on a pavilion terrace watching warriors on horseback, another on a Buddhist lion, other shield-bearing soldiers on foot and attendants holding banners, the slender spout and shallow domed cover similarly decorated, all below a cusped arch handle with ivory top

Lot Essay

A miniature silver salver, also with maker's mark for Da Xing, is illustrated by J. Devereux Kernan, The Chait Collection of Chinese Export Silver, New York, 1985, p.163, no.169; the author comments that this is the only known piece by this maker.
