AN UNUSUAL PAINTED AND GILT IVORY STANDING WARRIOR FIGURE
18th/19th century, possibly Macao
Wearing European-style armour over his red-painted jacket, pantaloons tucked into knee-high boots, and a helmet surmounted by an eagle with outstretched wings before three plumes, the figure standing beside a tied book on raised rockwork holding a baton in one hand and part of his tied belt in the other, a low-slung sword suspended from a sash worn diagonally across his body
