A PAIR OF LARGE CANTON FAMILLE ROSE PINK-GROUND VASES
Late 19th century
Each applied with gilt confronted Buddhist lion cub handles at either side of the flaring neck and two pairs of gui dragons at the shoulder, enamelled on one side of the body with two smiling boys, one holding a double-gourd flask above his head and the other a bowl of rice, and with two phoenix amongst tree peony on the other side, the neck with a smaller boy beside two bats and a three-legged toad, and birds on a prunus branch on the reverse side, all reserved on a pink sgraffito ground, the everted scalloped rim with further flower sprays
