A THREE-CASE INRO IN RINPA STYLE
With signature Hokkyo Korin, Edo Period (19th Century)
Dull gold lacquer ground; decoration in lead, shell and gold takamaki-e and gold flakes; compartments, risers, shoulders and rims gold lacquer; signed in gold hiramaki-e underneath Hokkyo Korin with a red seal Hoshuku; lacquered wood ojime; blue and white porcelain netsuke in the form of a nasubi [eggplant]
On one side a deer and hind, one in lead and the other in strips of shell, and on the other a hill beneath the moon, both sides also with autumnal plants
